About the Book
*via GoodReads*
Vienna Stratton knew she only had herself to blame. You didn’t let yourself become indebted to a man like Dane Davenport, no matter how badly you needed his help. As his personal assistant, she was very aware that the globally successful CEO was ruthless and unforgiving.
Of course, if she’d known he’d request that she be his wife for twelve months, she’d have hesitated in accepting his help. Because what she’d learned from Dane was that the devil wasn’t ugly and terrorizing. He was seductive and captivating. He hummed with whispers of temptation – the temptation to sin and surrender, to let him brand and possess you. He awakened every need and fantasy you had.
My Initial Thoughts
I would take this review with a grain of salt because I was super invested when I first picked it up. Like, the first half was locked in! But in the second half of it, I got a bit bored. there were a few things I could've done without and I fear it could've been a bit shorter than it was.
My Review
*non spoiler*
I was heavily influenced by TikTok to pick this book up. Not only because it's a marriage of convenience romance which is one of my favorite tropes. But because I heard the communication in this book was absolutely amazing and that did not disappoint!
This book takes place at Vienna's workplace with her boss Dane. Dane tends to be a bit of a straightforward person... you could also say grumpy a little bit. They end up coming to an agreement to be in a fake marriage for 12 months due to circumstances. One of the best things about this book was their ability to communicate. If there was ever an issue or a point where the other was upset they spoke on it which was very refreshing to read in a book.
With that being said, I didn't obsess over the book the way a lot of people on BookTok were.... I did enjoy Vienna's character and watching her and Dane's relationship develop. There were a few points in the book that I could've gone without and there were some things that ick'd me out about Dane's character, but..... it is a good read if you need something to get you out of a slump, or you just want a cute romance to read, I would pick this up. It wasn't amazing to the point where I would say you HAVE to read it but I would if you're looking for something chill. I would definitely read it to see their communication skills because genuinely that was the best part. The book is steamy, I didn't care for it too much so I skimmed through.
Overall, I liked it. I had a good time. I would say read it if it sounds interesting to you! This was the first book I read by Suzanne Wright and I definitely want to try more books by her in the future.
